Sun 29 Jan 2012 A Fantastic Welcome
SWEDISH star Mervan saluted the fans for making him so welcome as he made his Rangers debut in yesterday's 4-0 win over Hibs and promised there is much to come. The 21-year-old looked enthusiastic and hungry as he got his first taste of the action since signing from GAIS last week. And even although the Swedish season finished last autumn he looked ready and willing to play his part. He said: "It was fantastic when I came on and the fans welcomed me very well. It was great. "I trained hard all week and I am always ready. I may not have played much recently but I feel good. "It was a very good win for us. I felt we were good in the second half and we scored good goals. It was important to win and I was pleased to be involved. "You have to go out and show what you can and any time I play I want to help the team to win games." Mervan normally plays on the left side of midfield but was asked to play just behind David Healy and he has no qualms about that. He showed the fans already that he has an appetite and good energy but he feels there is much more to come. He said: "I think the left side is my best position and that's where I played with GAIS but the coach asked me to play in a different role and I have no problem with that. "I thought my first appearance was OK but there is more to come from me. "I know we have a Cup match next week and that will be just as important. I play every game to win." Latest News headlines
