SONE ALUKO was thrilled to score his second goal at Ibrox with a fantastic free-kick which helped Rangers record a morale-boosting 4-0 win over Hibs.

The Nigerian winger found the postage stamp with his stunning strike on 71 minutes and admits he was under a bit of pressure to do so having made a mess of a similar effort earlier in the match.

Prior to hitting his side's third goal Ally McCoist told Aluko to test the keeper and he celebrated with the manager after he beat Mark Brown with one of the strikes of the season.

Hitting a wonder goal and being named man-of-the-match made it a special day for Sone but he was simply delighted to see Rangers return to winning ways against Pat Fenlon's men.

He said: "I was happy with the win and I thought I contributed to the game today.

"It was a very good result for us, 4-0 at home, and that is what the fans want to see.

"It's always nice to score a goal and I was pleased with the one I got today.

"Before it the manager told me to hit the target because the one I took earlier nearly went out of the stadium!

"But that goal put us three up and the result closes the gap at the top of the SPL, albeit Celtic have a game in-hand.

"But we just need to stay focused on ourselves right now, we can't really focus on what Celtic are doing.

"They are trying to win games, just like us, so all we can do is try to pick up three points every week and hope that's enough."

Sone insists that people were wrong to write Rangers off following last weekend's draw against Aberdeen.

He added: "Yeah, I think so.

"When we had a big gap it was wrong to write off Celtic and that's the same with us now.

"I think it will go down to the wire and I hope we have enough to win the league."
